But after driving through Cal's central valley in the middle of summer, smelling the feedlots, roasting whenever you get out of the car, well, I'm just so immensely glad to get back home to Oregon's green fields! not a v. good reason. would be the same in Arizona.

2. it's so insanely crowded!!!! we go down every few years to visit my grandparents, who live an hour south of LA. We went through LA last year, and we weren't in the "poor" part of the city so it was pretty nice....but I guess I pretty much hate all cities...Portland is the only city on East or West coast that I like. The traffic is ghastly. There is no open space, it's all either blacktop or desert.

3. this follows, weather-wise----I read a novel this spring, about a brush-fire in SoCal's richest mansion-type areas, that made me resolve again never to live there.
A place where water is not readily available is not a safe place to be in case of general collapse.

4. mind, this one does not apply to all Californians---but it seems to me there is a consumerist, "me"-type attitude prevalent. Again, I may be wrong here. And I certainly don't dislike Californians.

You know, I guess I'd never thought through these reasons to myself, just took them for granted--so thanks for asking! :)Bethanyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14791763524324073873noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7329461720467130079.post-28558150290462478982009-08-10T19:07:20.844-07:002009-08-10T19:07:20.844-07:00Okay, um, this has absolutely nothing to do with t...Okay, um, this has absolutely nothing to do with this post, but I was just reading your sidebar, and I must say "what in the world is wrong with California?!" Haha, I don't live there or anything, but I've heard it's a nice place? What ever has moved you to dislike it so much?

I find this kind of amusing :)Stellahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03298497292652566114noreply@blogger.com
